BBP symposium 'Biosafety in times of a pandemic: lessons learned from COVID19’

COVID19 surprised nearly all of us, including biosafety officers and other people responsible for health, safety and environment. Were we ready for such a worldwide emerging infectious disease outbreak? What did we learn so far and how can we improve our preparedness for future outbreaks in terms of collaboration both within and outside the HSE department? What about training, (re)use of personal protective equipment, access to guidelines and procedures, etc.? Do we expect a leading role of European stakeholder associations and, if so, what could be the role of biosafety and other health professionals in setting up a pan-European preparedness plan?
