Containment measures: 

An isolation distance of 25 m to neighbouring sugar beet fields and of 2 km to seed production areas will be guaranteed. Fodder beets (two-year crop) are only tested during the vegetative stage. Bolters and volunteer plants will be destroyed. At the end of the experiment the vegetative material needs to be destroyed by chopping and soil incorporation. The follow up cultivar of the trials will be a cereal crop.

Monitoring measures: 

After trial the fields will be monitored for 1 year with the destruction of volunteer plants and bolters. The first year after cultivation of the GM crop only a cereal can be cultivated.

Status: 

- The Biosafety Advisory Council a.i. issued a positive advice (with conditions) for this field trial.- Authorization procedure completed. The notifier was granted authorization from the Federal Minister to perform the trial.
